River is the third studio album by English vocalist Terry Reid. It is considered a masterpiece which brought Reid's funky folk blues shifting and evolving into a sort of jazz abstraction. The first four tracks present a relaxed groove made up of songs which largely appear mostly unfinished, as if they were jams between friends, where Terry Reid and his musicians are intent on coming up with ideas and experimenting with riffs. By incorporating some elements of Brazilian music into the melody and rhythm, the remaining compositions display a sweet and unfinished power. Especially with the last two romantic and melancholic songs, "Dreams" and "Milestones", where the enchanting Reid's voice is accompanied only by an acoustic guitar.
