This Could Be Texas

English Teacher’s debut “This Could Be Texas” was this year’s Mercury prize winner for good reason! The Leeds-based four-piece have come right out of the gate with a superb album that doesn’t adequately fit under any label. ”I’m Not Crying, You’re Crying” and “R&B” are fantastic slices of indie-rock, while “The Best Tears of Your Life” positively bewilders with acoustic guitars and autotuned vocals - the personal, yet witty, lyrics of vocalist Lily Fontaine, however, tie the whole thing together perfectly.
